Devices especially mobile phone cameras have become a necessity in everyday life. Recording memorial experiences and momentary scenes has become a familiarize activity.
GAZE (2014)
takes in relationships between “I” and natural world in contemporary life; a person perceives natural reality through devices. Do we experience a directed-perceived image differently from an image perceived through a device? It seems like these two images are submerged by familiarity. I metaphorically look at a device as a thin translucent line that obscures and divides natural reality and through-the-screen images.
The collection of mixed-media paintings is an ongoing project. One of the four current paintings was exhibited in 20/20 show in 2015.
