The installation is a site-specific walking-through Tunnel for Cannizaro Park in Wimbledon. It combines, as a primary element, a number of small clear plastic bags, which contain natural water from local ponds. The water bags is hung in lines and connected together covering the tunnel-like structure.
The idea of the piece is about obscure pictures of reality. The nature consists of Biotic and Abiotic components in their transformational and transitional relations. Most of the time we believe in what we see, and to some extent we see what we believe. In our daily life, we as a society are bombarded by images of all resources; on television, the Internet, in magazine and newspaper. They transfer us to imaginary places. Where do we position ourselves in relation to what we see in natural world and through medias?
Water bags reflect distorted visual images of surrounding environment. The vaporization of water in closed bags will create condensation on internal surface of the bags, which give a misty and layering effect. By walking through the 5-metre tunnel, viewers will make a shift from the world we see to experience obscured images questioning our believing system.
The water from local pond contains Biotic living and Abiotic element, relates the artwork to its specific environment. It is planed to install on a natural walking track surrounded by trees and sky to get reflection of different colours and patterns. The walking track naturally lead viewers through the tunnel.
